After living in Hope, AR for 57 years, moving to Cornerstone in 2017 was a major transition. Yet, in that transition I have never doubted that it was the right move. Cornerstone is unique among retirement communities in our four states corner of the world. My patio home is delightful, with just the right combination of relatively carefree living and stimulating activities.
I already knew several people living here who enjoy the independent lifestyle Cornerstone provides, along with the security of a continuum of care as age advances. I am grateful that this community is available for us. Also, I am thoroughly enjoying my neighbors and all the amenities, activities, and opportunities Cornerstone offers. That being said, I want to discuss how moving into a community did not hinder my freedom and hobbies.
When I first joined this community, I created the Cornerstone Chorus. Most of the members had never really sung before, so we meet every week and rehearse. It really stimulates our minds and is also very good for your memory. By singing together, we began to really enjoy our time together and always feel revived and happy after our practices. In fact, we have a performance every month for the whole community!
In closing, my hobby thrives at Cornerstone because I was able to create a group and share my passion for music. I have the support of faculty in doing so and enjoy the companionship of others. As the saying goes, life without music would ‘B flat’.
